Race report by Stanley Wangsanegara
This race event was held at the Abadi circuit, which is not very big for 1/8th
scale buggies with dimensions of only 45 x 25. The lap times were around 24
seconds; it was previously only about 21 seconds but we added some more handicaps to make it more technical. The surface of the track is always OK overall.

The track changed a little bit from time to time; in the morning there would be more grip, then at the noon time but it is not much. Besides some new obstacles, there is one interesting corner that is always covered by a tree branch. Sunlight never shone on that part of the track, so that section was always slippery and damp. Whenever a driver had too much nerve and opened the throttle too much, the rear end of the car would go wild.

The race format started with three qualifying rounds. Each round allowed each driver to have 10 minutes runtime. Then from the 3 rounds, the best round would be counted for deciding the final grid position. The Final round(s) was a fixed format. The best ten drivers would be in the A Final, the next ten best would be in the B Final, and so on.

I took the first qualifying round with 24 laps at 10:00:260. Second place in the first qualifying round was Yuri with 24 laps and only 1 second behind me… too close! In the second qualifying round I also made 24 laps but with some mistakes so the overall timing was slower at 10:04.739. In the third qualifying round, I made 25 laps with 10:24.395. I would be the first person who could make 25 laps in the new track and also the only one who could made it.

The A Final was 45 minutes long. In the first 5 minutes I had heavy pressure from Mr. Yuri and we were changing lead about 2 times. His engine was very fast in this race and he could make up some fast acceleration in the infield section. But unfortunately for Mr. Yuri, he flamed out at about 10 minute mark.

Then at around the 25 minute mark, I realized that Mr. Roy Lie was coming very strong from the back of the field. He qualified 3rd. His engine was also very fast, and he could almost catch up to me to have a dogfight. But unfortunately for him, at around 30 minutes mark, his mechanic was stretching the pit stop schedule so that his car flamed out in the pit and was never able to start again. After that, I cruised around the track and tried to keep my car safe. I took the chequered flag with 2 laps ahead of 2nd place.
